About this plant
A tough climbing shrub that produces sheets of papery colour through the hot months. Ideal for boundary walls, gates and screening where there is strong sun.
تیز دھوپ میں خوب پھلنے پھولنے والی رنگ دار بیل۔
What you receive
A rooted plant in a nursery bag, roughly 45–90 cm tall. Photos show mature specimens in full colour; you receive a young nursery plant.
Suitability for the Faisalabad region
One of the best performers in Faisalabad heat: full sun and hot dry winds suit it, and it colours most heavily when grown a little hard. It needs strong direct sun — against a shaded wall it will grow leaves but little colour. Left unpruned it becomes very large, so allow space or plan regular cutting back; it may drop leaves in the coldest winter spells.
Care
Water when the top few centimetres of soil are dry; once established in the ground it needs surprisingly little, and slight dryness encourages colour. Avoid heavy feeding — too much nitrogen gives leaves instead of bracts; a light balanced feed in spring is enough. Prune after each flush of colour and shape it firmly in late winter. Provide support if you are training it over a gate or wall.
Please note: Stems carry sharp thorns. Wear gloves when pruning and keep away from children's play areas.
